Funny IBM Motherboard -some info outThere!!!

Postby sirrushx » Tue Nov 22, 2011 12:40 pm

8) Hello again ,picked up a Decent looking Mobo for $10.00 yesterday. Figured it is time soon to replace my flooded semi-operating Jetway 370 Board.

it is an IBM  says FRU P/N 49P1599

LBL P/N 32p2992

Has a funny Header/Socket on Bottom Called POV 3 (it is a 30 pin connector-like small ide socket).

To the Extreme left of it , is a socket/Header (20 pin ) with 2 jumpers on pins 2+3 ,then 4+5 <looking @top row>.

It is Labeled A_ F_ PANEL -seems like a Mystery to ME??!!

The F_Panel connector /Header /Socket ,I gleaned out from a general Web Search /// Turns out this is a NETVISTA MOBO ,of some Variant.

You guys are great for your advice.

Take care ,stu

Same motherboard used in 8305 (Netvista) and 8303 (M42) series IBM PCs.
Difficult to find info but I will see if anything is available.
I am guessing your looking for front panel connectivity to power it up?

See if this helps. Has pics. FRU is different but it might be relevant to your board.

The biggest problem I have with these guides is they don't go that indepth. They say something like "Remove all cables", "Replace all cables"...

I agree, nonetheless, it's about the best I can deliver at the moment, sometimes the front panel layout is in there, often not and if it has one of the proprietary big connectors you're SOL anyway...

:? :-|

just to top off the Proprietary issue ,exploring this thing ,8503 , the AGP videoKard slot is mounted BACKWARDS ,,yes "backwards" -------------

I guess it is /was IBM-Lenovo,s idea to frustrate Computer Builders from recycling their stuff into standard ATX /MATX cases.

With some Cable Fabrication ,I could use my AGP Kard in there , but have to remove metal Slot /header Panel from VGA connector screws/nuts to install
it inside properly.
