From what I have located so far. the board appears to be a Chaintech 9bjf apogee, but I'll be damned if I can find anything on it..

Thanks to you and Toby for all your work.
Before I get the drivers on board, I need to get your information on board and likely get back to you for some guidance on the next step.

In the mean time I'll try and dig up a manual, there's the ever so small chance I might have it tucked away in the offline archives...

Good Morning - Yes I have yet more questions.

I have downloaded most of the drivers to my PC and before I copy to disk and upload to my brother's PC could you please confirm that my driver assumptions are correct and clarify the following: -

Video Controller Driver= Intel: -
1. Intel Graphics Media Accelerator
2. Update Utility
3. Application Accelerator

I have downloaded 1 & 2. Do I need 3? If so which choices do I make e.g. Chipsets, Desktop Boards etc.

Multimedia Audio Controller Driver = C-Media: -
The download is a programme. Do I just need to load and run the programme or do I need to load the driver separately?

SM Bus Controller = RealTec LAN chip: -
Do I just need to guide Device Manager to these file?

PCI Simple Communications Controller = ?

Sorry to be a pain in the preverbial, but having come so far I don't want to fall at the last hurdle.

you've got mail (for the manual)

Audio: yes, the installshield installer will install the drivers and the audio control panel application.

PCI simple communications controller = your dial-up modem, most likely a PCI card.

SM bus controller should have a driver after installing the intel drivers, if not, post back, we'll try and find the additional stuff you need for that.

Just use number 1 and 2 of the intel drivers, no need for number 3

Better you ask and do it right, no prob.

Thank you both for all your time, help and the manual.

The sun came out so I had a break and did a bit of gardening, but tomorrow I will jump back onto my steep learning curve and start setting up the drivers on my brother's PC.

Would appreciate if this posting could be left open until the success fanfare is sounded.

NOTE: The posting I placed on the Intel Support Community had 224 viewings with only one reply with some outline advice.

That's not unusual. Lots of people look at it, but really have no idea. Toby and Evasive will get you settled.
