| hello i need help with overclocking my new ATI HD 5970 CROSSFIRE, i got the new Alienware Area 51 ALX, with Intel Core i7-970, RAM = 6Gb, memory of ddr3-1600, windows 7 home premium, also need help overclocking the i7 970, please. |

this might be a topic better for the Overclockers Anonymous forum...
but in short, your ati catalyst driver should have some basic overclock setting built into it for the graphics cards.
i'm not totally sure that the 970 has an unlocked multiplier... if it does not, then you just have to turn up the b-clock setting in your bios from 133 to higher. best to do this in small increments, as you don't want to blast it up to 200 all at once and blow your cpu.
overclocking is an art, so read up, and ask lots of questions... check out the Overclockers Anonymous forum for more info. _________________ my main rig...

how about trying it without the overclock and see if you need it...?
don't really see why you would, but to each their own. that computer should play just about everything out there with acceptable framerates. getting an additional few FPS on things doesn't always translate into any perceptable improvement.
