I mostly use the Firefox browser, and I have Tor anonymous proxy installed on all my PCs. So it's interesting to me to note where my anonymous proxy says that I am. Today it says I'm in Mongolia.

Usually, it ends up somewhere in western Europe. Rarely Asia, never Mongolia.

I hope it's enjoying the trip.

Interesting "virtual" visit! Possibly your IP address is duplicated on another machine? Or your machine ID is possibly cloned by a pirate?

That just happened to be the location of my fellow Tor user who was my volunteer anonymous proxy that day. It was a very brief stay. Today I'm back in western Europe:

Doesn't using Tor make the internet way slower for you?

Probably because it's the favorite playground for "file sharing"...

Why do you use it then if it makes it ridiculously slow?

By gong through a series of servers and reroutes, your IP signature is usually "lost" on the trail. Hackers commonly use this technique to hide their identity and location!

Ya but you don't use it every time you use the internet do you? Seems way too excessive and paranoid to think you need to be running behind TOR every time you are on the internet. Maybe for certain things, but not as a normal browser.
