Which Antivirus to buy?

Postby markrunbox » Tue Mar 22, 2011 10:06 am

Hello every one

i have Dell Inspiron 1545.
had got 15months of free McAfee with my Dell Laptop. it is expiring dis weekend.

wanted to know which is the best antivirus??

i use internet most of the time n even have to use many pen drives/CDs.
many times i connect my McAfee -scanned pendrive on my colleagues PC's. their antivirus software can detect many trojans etc (which my McAfee fails to detect)

mod edit: We do not discuss such things here, please refrain from further questions regarding them. Thanks.

is it advisable to buy antivirus for 3yrs duration??
Thanking you in anticipation

Miscrosoft Security Essentials (MSE) is quite good, and does a good job of catching the nasties. It's free on Microsoft's website.

Check this list of top ten anti-virus program providers. You will get different preferences from different people, but will get an idea of how each brand works. I did have McAfee, but they lost out due to their licensing practices for multiple systems (your Email address was the license code!) I went with the AVG program, for three systems.. and it was less costly than only one program for one computer, with McAfee!!
Most companies will have multi-license programs, as well as multi-year licensing offers. Some companies even offer a no-cost program. But you are better protected with a purchased program having more features.
Never, under any circumstances, click on one of those pop-up ads for "antivirus 20xx" or similar!! Quicksand would be a better fate!
