Trying to update everything on my pc that I built 6 years ago.
Using Motherboard.org tools to identify but progs dont work or crash.

I have core 2 E6600 with 4Gig 800mhz Ram Nividia GrForce 8600 GTS OC 512Mb and no idea what motherboard is, could open up and try to read board but little crowded in there with all fams and 4 HD's and 2 DVD drives + card reader etc. Running Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit

How can I find out (For free) what my board is and update it? Some software said it was 2004 board but thats all I know.

Any help would be greatly appreciaited :-)

Left this here in case others need help. I forgot about Belarc advisor which was around a few years ago and just seen it on google. Tells you about everything on and attached to pc, great kit
Now that I know I have a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 motherboard I can go see if I can update it for first time in 6 years!!!

Just been to Gigabyte website and even though I can see and select from drop downs, nothing on my board there. Using MOBO drivers, drop down list has numbers that mean nothing to me so I dont know what I need to click as all I know is my board is Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 and thats it.

Any advice on drivers bios updates etc would be appreciated

The BIOS string in the lower left corner of the first screen is a positive ID of your mobo, plus its "birth" date. Check the Gigabyte site for any BIOS updates. Unfortunately, their site needs a language add-on so your browser can decipher the text. If you got a driver disk with the mobo, all the relevant driver programs are on it for that model.
As to diagnostics programs, Belarc Advisor is great, so too is Everest Ultimate Diagnostics from www.lavalys.com/ and is not all that expensive to own. CPU-Z is another program, freeware.. but the authors would appreciate a donation to keep it so. Everest has two versions, a trial one with some features locked out, and the full version.

I pressume you mean on startup Karl?

Beleric tells me
"Board: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. 965P-DS3
Bus Clock: 266 megahertz
BIOS: Award Software International, Inc. F10 01/12/2007"

Not sure about language on Gigabyte but using drop downs I could see my model but no drivers, dont have original disks anymore.
Everst is an awsome piece of software, I used to have it on my old PC, used it to watch temps on board cpu gpu and hd's.

I know there must be some update as its so old but also its slowing and freezing and Wifey wont let me spend money on it as it still works very well..... but not well enough for me to play fsx!!! lol

I was able to see Audio and SATA drivers for Windows 7 but not much else.
Last bios update was for 2009/06/25 - would not recommend updating unless you are sure you need a feature of one of the updates.
