File Shredder Program

Postby Spark » Thu May 20, 2010 11:00 pm

This concerns file shredding utilities similar to this one as used in windows XP. ... dards.html

I was wondering if a program like this can be used to over write previously deleted files and folders to the point that they CAN'T be recovered and yet not damage the rest of the working operating system? Or if after using a program like this the operating system needs to be reloaded?

If you only select your personal files the rest of the OS will still be working. The sure fire way to do this is to a clean reinstall of the OS, then use the wipe free space option.

You can use this tool:

afterwards to check that the files really cannot be recovered.
