Chipset effect on gaming performance

Postby 61239 » Sat Jan 09, 2010 4:41 am

Hei all, just directly to the point.

I will build a PC for gaming but i confused to choose the proper motherboard. The case is i'll use AMD AM3 processor and ATI HD 5850 for the vga, and there are many Motherboard chipset that support this specification.

For example, the supporting chip : AMD A780GE, A770, or Nvidia Gf8100.

Actually, does difference in chipset will affect in gaming performance?
Thanks alot for the answer. (sorry for my bad english) :)

For Gaming, the mewest might be best - NVidia and AMD make fine chipsets, but I note the NVIDIA nForce 980a SLI claims support for 3 way SLI ready w/ triple PCIE 2.0x 16 (which might be more than needed for now - but you asked about the best...
Suggest:
MSI NF980-G65 AM3 NVIDIA nForce 980a SLI HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard (about $170 shipped)

Check Specifications. It looks a bit Power-Hungry, so don't skimp on Power Supply. It can handle DDR3 1800/2133 (OC) as well...
