HI,
I have a travelmate 280 laptop which is losing it's date and time when the power supply is removed. ie fire up with no power adapter connected. It will keep time all the while the adapter is connected and on.
I get error 0251 and two beeps during post and asked to set time and date. i have to enter bios and set date and time. current bios is R01-A0R 29/01/2003 smbios version 2.31 from system info in windows.
I have changed the bios battery but still have the problem.
What is causing this problem? have reset to defaults in bios with no effect.
Would flashing with same bios version work? which i don't have.
Is there a newer version of the bios i can flash? if so where can i get it from It's not on the acer site.
Help is most appreciated
need more info just ask. |

| Found the problem. The new bios battery was shorting out on the mounting case which is conductive. have now improved the insulation on the battery. works fine now. |
