The only OS you would need USB drivers for using this board is windows98/Me, all newer variants come with drivers if you install the latest service pack.

What operating system are you using, which ports do not work or better said, how do you know they are not working?

If you have installed the chipset drivers after installing SP3 for XP or SP4 for windows 2000, your USB ports should show up in device manager without any (1) or (?)

brand/model of that 1G card?
brand/model of that wireless mouse?

these devices sometimes need a seperate driver as well. USB is just an universal way of connecting not magically install things in your OS...

There should have been a CD disk with the mobo, which has all the proper drivers for that model. If not, then the MSI home site should have the driver set either in current or archive sector. Or try this site.. http://www.drivers.mrjuan.com/brand-13-msi.html
Many MSI plus other mobo models listed.
The chipset driver is the most critical one.. if the OS cannot work with the chipsets, then very few features will work properly.
Go to the Settings/Control Panel page and then to the System icon. Choose Hardware then Device Manager. If any features require drivers or have problems, then they will have a warning mark or 'splatz'.. or be part of an expanded branch with warning marks.
