Anybody have GTA IV for PC?

What do you think? How does it play on your rig and what are the specs?

San Andreas got me hooked on GTA, and I hope to get IV within a few weeks...... PDT_Armataz_01_01

Well, if you don't mind the fact you have to install Games For Windows Live, SecuROM and Rockstar Games Social Club application (if you don't already have them) and it requires activation on-line, and you may have to reactivate if you 'change two or more major components', or you install under a different account on the same computer...

To be fair, I've read a number of posts on various forums by people who really like the game and say it rocks. But anything that requires that much extra crap to be installed just to run the game isn't something I'd buy.

I've heard that the latest version of XLiveLess disables both the Social Club and Games For Windows apps, but I'll probably leave it alone first to see how it really runs.

There seems to be a huge disparity in performance insofar as specs are concerned. You hear about some users' problems with a Core i7/GTX260 combo, while another may be using a "subpar" X2 5000/HD4650 and playing it fine on modest settings.

I'm hoping that "subpar" hardware will allow me to play the game like the many videos I've watched on YouTube. One user had an old Allendale Pentium DC at 2.2Ghz with a low-ball HD4550 and was able to eek out a playable framerate at low resolution.

Since my monitor is an '01 with a max res of 1024x768, may I have the same luck that he did.

Well, I can play it on medium-ish settings at 1024x768 without any real slowdown.

Hope to upgrade to an HD5770 and Athlon II X3/X4 in a month or so, which will hopefully let me do high settings.

This game needs AA bad, though. Lots of jaggies......
