Dell's group policy settings

Postby Smurfcorpse » Tue Dec 02, 2008 6:32 am

A friend of mine has a Dell PC with XP Pro. They can not connect to it's shares (folders or printers) from any PC on their home network. I think it may be a firewall issue but the firewall options are grayed out and a message saying it is controlled by group policy is at the top. This is set up by Dell at the factory. What should I change in group policy? Do I need to add the other users on the home network to the PC and then add them to the group policy? They would rather the PC boot directly into windows and not ask for a user or password so I don't want to add them if I don't have to.

Use the Administrator log on account, then go to START, RUN and type in GPEDIT.msc ..... This brings up the Group Policy editor, allowing you to edit accounts.....
