Are they any closer to getting sorted?

Seems to be O.K at the moment providing you use the -advmethods flag. I would advise against using the BigWU setting right now as all the units are big, in fact huge (900 points approx) and they're without bonus points, so they take a long time. Not the best way to get them done but that's Stanfords choice. Using no flags at all can be something of a problem but you'll get work in time.

Seem to be back down to maybe five / ten minutes delay.
I've never used the -adv flag before, so maybe I should look into it...

The flag for 'advanced' methods is the pass card, so to speak, to allow the F@H process to accept newer WUs before general release.
-advmethods
Request to be assigned work units from new projects, before they are broadly released to the rest of Folding@home. As among the first to try out new advanced simulations, you may wish to post any observations (positive or negative), questions, or issues at the user Forum.

For better processing time, use the -forceasm flag.
-forceasm
Instruct the core to use SSE/3DNow assembly instructions if possible, even if it has previously made the determination that the machine may not be handling this well.

It'll get you a lot more points as the WU's given out with the -advmethods flag are worth double the PPD of normal units. They are Ambers from P4597 onwards and are very stable.

I've been getting a "code 503" on a WU submission the past few days. Guess the problem still isn't sorted. 384 points languishing in queue cache!
have a 755 pointer due for submission on the 14th. Hope it goes in!

I'm sure it's on here somewhere... but how do I do it? Do I have to delete the current cores and start again? By and largely I'm using the service option, aprt from the three machines I regulalry use for music recording, where I've got the console.

Well, you should have a shortcut that looks like this.

C:\Folding@Home\FAH504-Console.exe -local -config -advmethods

The local flag is for multiple cores only so you shouldn't bother with that one. The -config means that you can configure the client on startup, I have this as I like to have the ability to make instant changes but most people don't really need it. I've never run Folding as a service so I can't say for sure how you add or remove flags but if its in your startup menu then it'll be pretty easy. No need to delete anything, just close down the service, add the -advmethods flag then restart the service, the next time a new WU is downloaded it should be one of the Amber WU's.

Right. I'm away for the w/e, but I'll have a play with it once I get back.

I was wondering what was up, I haven't turned in anything since

11.13, 12pm

and both clients are running at zero cpu usage

Code: Select all
[14:03:34] + Attempting to get work packet
[14:03:34] - Connecting to assignment server
[14:03:34] - Couldn't send HTTP request to server
[14:03:34]   (Got status 403)
[14:03:34] + Could not connect to Assignment Server
[14:03:34] - Couldn't send HTTP request to server
[14:03:34]   (Got status 403)
[14:03:34] + Could not connect to Assignment Server 2
[14:03:34] + Couldn't get work instructions.
[14:03:34] - Attempt #6  to get work failed, and no other work to do.
Waiting before retry.
