Gaming Hardware Question?

Postby graynightblue » Thu Sep 11, 2008 1:41 pm

So I just got my first HD LCD TV. It's a nice Phillips 42" but it only has HDMI inputs. I know some TVs have actual VGA inputs for computers but does anyone know of a reason I wouldn't be able to get a HDMI > DVI cable and run the DVI from my computer to the HDMI in the TV?

Thanx!

A DVI to HDMI adapter will work just fine. I purchased one from Best Buy and it work great on my HD LCD. I'm sure you could find a similar connector online at Newegg or other retailer.

I have a 37" LCD HDTV connected to my PC via DVI to HDMI cable. Works well and the picture is pretty good. Color is a bit funny but I believe it is the fault of the TV not the cable or computer. My TV also has a VGA connector. I used it until the HDMI cable came in from Newegg.com. I definetly noticed a big improvement with the HDMI cable though. BTW a DVI cable through newegg.com is about 10-15 dollars. through Best buy you are looking at $50.00 plus.

Awesome guys, thanks for the answer. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to play my games on the TV. Guess it's all good. =)

Again, thanks.
