I just finished building my new system for all around use. Games, video, pictures, music… I really don't know anything about overclocking but I do want to get the best/safe/stable performance I can from what I have.

I am wondering about the “MB Intelligent Tweaker” settings. Is this where I can maximize my FSB, DDR timings, and video card etc?

I have only made minor Bios adjustments in Advanced Bios, Integrated Peripherals, and PC Health. I have made no changed to MB Intelligent Tweaker.

My system is basically stock:

Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6
Intel E8500
Cooler Master TX2
Corsair – 2X CM2X1024 6400C4 (4-4-4-12) - Does it run this without making adj. to bios?
XFX 8800GTS 678M 512MB DDR3
Western Digital 250g - WD2500YS
PSU – Antec NeoPower 650w

Any advice or info you can share is appreciated.

Thx

To have the best/safe/stable performance from your computer is to leave it at its stock speed. Since you know nothing about overclocking, I would advise you to be careful when overclocking your system if you choose to do so. There's quite a lot that goes into overclocking and you risk the chance of damaging your computer.

Your sitting at 3.1ghz which is more than enough you will need, in less you feel the performance right now is bad?

Once you know how to overclock properly its easy to do, and there's a lot to explain in detail, I'm experienced in overclocking, but don't feel right to explain it, cause sometimes I don't know what i'm doing :).. but a reference i always give people is to visit Ocforums, there's a lot of information about overclocking on that site. You can easily overclock that chip to 3.7ghz with proper cooling.

I will do some more reading and take a look at Ocforum. Thanks.

I am really wondering if the system automatically sets the DDR2 to the optimum timings and 1333 fsb.

And if any gains can be had by chaning the setting in Robust Graphics Booster?

I'm interested in learning. Please forgive the novice questions.

Thx
