overclocking II

Hello, I'm new to the site and I appreciate this forum, it has been helpful.

I was formerly posting in the Tech Support section until it was pointed out to me, indirectly and cleverly, that I am the one in need of support, not my computer's hardware.

That being said, this is my configuration:

CPU = Intel 6700 quadcore
MOTHERBOARD = Asus Maximus Formula Special Edition
RAM = Crucial DDR2 PC2-8500 4 GB total
HEATSINK = Thermaltake V1
OS = Windows Vista Home Premium
POWER SUPPLY = Antec 850 W
VIDEO CARD = NVidia GTX 8800 768 MB x1
SOUND CARD = SupremeFX II audio card (came with MB)
CASE = Antec 900
HD: WD 150 raptors x2 in RAID 0 and Seagate 500 GB x2, non-RAID

My question is this; I am obviously a novice at overclocking (OC) and I was formerly using both the BIOS and Windows software to overclock the computer, but this yielded no more than 3.0 GHz; I was wondering what else I could do to tweak this machine, or more precisely, what are the limits of what should do with air cooling?

My DRAM timings are as follows:

Primary: 5-5-5-18-3-42-6-3

Secondary: 8-3-5-4-6-4-6

And I have not yet adjusted the CPU voltage.

I know now that I should ONLY do OC in the BIOS.

Any and all advice, criticisms, etc., would be appreciated and thanks in advance!
