Which should I buy to overclock E6600 or E6420

Postby jimdaworm » Mon May 07, 2007 3:26 am

The Core 2 Duo E6600 costs 212 euros and the Core 2 Duo E6420 184 euros I will be using a Asus P5W DH Deluxe and some ddr2 800 ram.

Is it worth spending the extra 28 euros for the E6600?

in my opinion, it's only worth it if you don't overclock. if you plan on overclocking, then save the 28 euros (or put it towards better cooling)
People who have gone through Starfleet academy should be taught how to fix everything. Even a Roman aqueduct.

I bought the E6420 a while ago its very nice It over clocks with my new motherboard to E6600 speeds with a 1 degree temperature increase :D Of course I bought nice Zalman heatsink which helps.

I havent really experimented how far I can overclock it yet as I dont have much that really uses so much cpu.

ROFLMAO. I didn't even notice how old that post was. Dang, guess the forums are getting a little slow after all. :(

You should be able to hit 3ghz quite easily @ stock voltage. Which mobo do you have?

This is the one I have

http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=3 ... odelmenu=1 :D

It came with a few features that I dont use and there seem to have been lots of BIOS updates but it seems nice up until now. I am using the latest non-beta bios 2004
