Possible Project - DIY Projector

Hello all

I just got my hands on a cheap OHP - unfortunately, it's of the flatter portable variety, being a 3M 2010 AHST (no pictures on Google or 3m.com though); basically, it's a flat base and the 'arm' where the lenses are also contains the lamp. For this reason, I suspected that it may not have enough light because of the reflecting, and yes, it doesn't do what I would like it when testing with a laptop LCD.

Better pics of the device to show you how it's constructed:

Any ideas of how would be best to use this beast to make an LCD projector, or am I better removing the base, adding my own light source underneath, and just using the lens arrangement as with a traditional OHP?

Well, I've tossed around the idea of taking an OHP, adding in the LCD screen and controller, and building some walls around most of the module to help keep light in the array... I'll elaborate in a pic a bit later, a bit too late right now, and I at least have tomorrow off! Pic will be up when I'm up at my comp again...

Well that's the basis of pretty much every DIY projector project out there, including most of the ones linked to in this thread (as well as my own) - but with this design of projector, it needs a radical rethink :(
