Index updating "on the fly"

Postby Toby B. » Mon May 22, 2006 3:10 pm

I need to come up with a script to update index pages with new files/folders "on the fly" (i.e. so there is less to update everytime a file/folder is uploaded)...

The webhost I have can handle php4 and php5 code (if that is of any help).. I do not at this time have a MySQL database, or else that would be probably the best alternative......

Any ideas are welcome and greatly appreciated.

here is that example page that I am wanting to use (i.e. this IS the layout I want to use, once and if I can figure out how to update on the fly)...

Thanks

Toby,

This is old...and I see you've taken down the directory.

Consider the project at sourceforge.net called "AutoIndex"

http://autoindex.sourceforge.net/

It's not going to automatically update your 00Files.txt file, but it enables users to write notes about whatever they uploaded if they have admin privileges. Uses lots of .htaccess rules and looks decent.

Let me know if you figured it out. I have another folder structure I could use that for...

Well php is the best alternative... but with our host you cant wrap php into html pages, so you either gotta do .php extensions......
