|
|
I have seen this question pop up on a regular basis here. "How do I post a picture of my motherboard".
Well its quite simple actually. All you need is a digital camera (some people use a scanner), and take a pic or a couple of pics of the board (the clearer the better). Then you need to have access to a webhost/website that allows "hot-linking". Once the picture(s) is/are uploaded you cut and past the URL/website link from your browser's address bar into your post on this forum using the IMG tags like so:
| Code: | | [img]http://www.mysite.com/images/mobo-001.jpg[/img] |
Which generally leads to question 2. What is "hot-linking" and how do I know if my site allows this?"
"hot-linking" definition - | Quote: |
A link to images, videos, sounds, downloads etc., on somebody else's web site and integrating into another site's content.
Hot Linking is considered unethical unless the other web site specifically grants permission for it, as it increases the other site's costs without increasing their Page Views, advertising revenue, or sales. |
You should find info on this right off the bat at your webhost (usually found in their FAQs).
Many website hosts such as Tripod, 0catch.com, etc do not allow "hot-linking" with free accounts.
If all else fails and you need pictures to help in a motherboard ID, and you do not have access to a webhost that does allow "hot-linking", feel free to ask one of the moderators. We are generally friendly and most of us have our own sites that we can upload your pics to for ID purposes (usually within 24 hours of reciept). But please do not be frivilous about this offer as we are paying for our sites out of our own pockets.
This thread will be updated from time to time with new info. So check back often.

I have some lurking around the net for alternative picture hosting sites. I have come across a few different ones that allow "hot linking". One of them being:- http://www.mypicgallery.com I will post some others soon. _________________ We Help You. You Can Help Us!

As often mentioned, almost all laptops have specially built motherboards so there's no way we can ID those to something retail/generic. However, there's a collection of service manuals online here: http://www.elhvb.com/mobokive/edwin/laptops/
Big thank you to PJ (PurpleJulia) for collecting them and sending them to me... _________________ We hate rut, but we fear change.
