Motherboard Identifacation help needed

Postby lancemiller » Sun May 12, 2002 12:55 am

I have an old Compaq Presario 4112 that I am upgrading just for the hell of it. It has a socket 7 Pentium and I would like to put another processor in it. But, however Since its a compaq, the bios screen does not show so I am unable to locate the chipset this way. And I'm not sure what to look for on the board. My question does anyone have an idea how to identify this board? The numbers I can locate are Model: MD4 5600 Serial: TB 68117108. There is one chip that reads: PCLEST SB82437vx L6254032 SU085. And another chip that reads: PCLEST S882371S8 L6270292 SU093. It has ESS audi drive built in sound and S3 Trio64v+ Video. There is also a chip that reads: SMC FDC37C931PM A9625-B5561-AIC 6T84973-3. I would like to know how to upgrade the bios for this board and how to set the jumpers for a better processor. By the processor there is a CLK Multi jumper with 6 pins. 2 rows of 3's. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank You,
Lance Miller

not sure if it will take MMX pentium CPUs, you'd have to ask our Compaq expert on this (Hardware Junkie).
