Process Explorer.

It's Task Manager+++

It shows what's running which program; especially useful when you're trying to track down a Windows service that's taxing your CPU.

Knoppixhas saved my data twice now when NTFS got corrupted and windows wouldn't touch it. It also comes in a convenient travel size (called Feather Linux, fits on mini-CD)
