In response to Nvidia’s preview of its nForce4 SLI Intel Edition at CeBIT, ATI Technologies has launched the Radeon Xpress 200 northbridge for the Intel platform. Not to be outdone by Nvidia’s show of Taiwanese support, ATI called upon nine Taiwanese companies as technology partners at the launch.
Of the nine partners, Asustek Computer has immediately introduced a new motherboard, the P5RD1-V, based on the new ATI northbridge and featuring an on-board TV tuner. This product is targeting home PCs and media centers, according to Asustek, and is being displaying on both the ATI and Asustek booths at CeBIT. Mass production of the P5RD1-V is scheduled for April, Asustek said.
The eight other partners mentioned were: Acer, Elitegroup Computer System (ECS), First International Computer (FIC), Jetway Information, Micro-Star International (MSI), Shuttle and Tul. The Radeon Xpress 200 northbridge has a built-in graphics processor based on the Radeon X300. The version for the Intel platform also supports DDR2-667 memory.
