Just for the heck of it, I tried MS Antispyware, and it found 3 trojans that McAfee missed. So, I disabled McAfee, installed AVG 7, ran a scan, it found 1 virus (in NASCAR Thunder 2004).

My question is: can I run McAfee Firewall with AVG? (currently using MS Firewall......I know, I know)

Ah, but what does the wisdom say about running AVG WITH Norton AV? Is that acceptable? So far, it seems as though one or the other will come up with a preemptive message.

The general advice is to only have one virus guard installed - but I've heard that it can be ok if you're lucky and choose the right ones. I've never tried it personally but often wanted to just to see what happens.

McAfee and anything else will bite. Norton and anything else will bite. Don't know of combos between other producers...

It also depends on the engine involved, the general rule of thumb is only one AV at any time, AV can work with anti spyware just fine.

Also the new mcafee engine is actually heralded as a very good one so far.

As many viruss attack norton and mcafee past engines this may be a revolution of sorts... time will tell.
