I think you can get a bit anal about categorising stuff too much - personally I genarally use the search functions the most:
'view posts since last vist'
'view my posts' for follow-up to anything I've taken an interest in.
'view unanswered post' just in case someone is wondering whether he's logged into the Marie Celeste
I would love two more functions tho'
1 a simple, 'read all unread posts' would be useful.
(if I use 'view posts since last visit' but don't have time to look at them all, the next time I use 'view posts since last visit' the ones I haven't actually read are gone; I think :
2 'watch this post' quite often I read a post and want to follow it before I say anything but if I read it, it's gone from my search the next time. I've often wanted to just post a smiley just so I can find it next time  . I know this is available with an email but I just need to see it appear in the 'view my posts' search.

The "Mark all forums read" button at the bottom of the main page serves this function.

It's not even a button, more like a hidden link. I would suggest putting it somewhere more noticeable and into an actual button

Its a blue text link. No different to what we all use for navigating through all the forums. The only minor difference is its location and its size, but once people know where it is its fine. |
