Need advice on memory. Return or not?

Postby Boge42 » Fri Dec 10, 2004 11:46 am

I just upgraded my computer to an Athlon 64 3500+. I ordered the OCZ Dual Channel memory, but I accidentally ordered the wrong timings (not the revision 2). Anyway, I ordered 1 gig of the revision 2 after I realized I got the wrong stuff. I contacted OCZ about an exchange and they did just that for an extra $40.

So now I have 1gig of OCZ 3200 2-2-2-5 memory in my system, and another gig of the same stuff unopened.

My question is, would it be worth it to add another gig to my system, or should I return it to Newegg.com for the $277 - the 15% restocking fee?

Why do you want to use 2GB of RAM? 8O

I don't. I was wondering if it would be worth it to have 2 gig instead of just one for the $250.

I ordered more because I didn't want to wait for the exchange. I needed my comp. I figured I could return the unopened memory.

i doubt you'll get 250 dollars of performance out of that ram... if you're using windows, the memory management doesn't really account for having that much memory.

1 gig memory is enough for anything you will ever do on a home computer 2 gigs is just not necessary

better off investing in real top quality brand name and going for 2x512
