now in another review found here http://www.amd3d.com/review/a7v333/index.htm it seems like they were able to achieve much higher overclocking results from an Xp1600+ to an Xp 2000+ in one of there pictures you can see the board running at 165mghz am I just reading this wrong or did they do something to the board to achieve this high of an FSB  and then with regurds to voltage limitations | Quote: | | In order to achieve stable results I also had to increase the CPU voltage from 1.75v to 1.85v and I think with more voltage options I could have achieved better results |
yet there is this review here

why such huge differences? i usually disregard most reviews in favor of the ones from mb.org but in this case when two separate reviews come up with such large differences in regards to overclocking and the fact that i will soon be using this board, I have to ask the question. how come you could only reach 143fsb? if I missed something in your review [which apparently has happened before] please point it out.  |

| So if the Asus board provides for just moderate overclocking what is the best board for heavy duty overclocking? Is the Soltek mobo a good choice? |

EPox board is best for overclocking I believe.

| Epox overclocked the most yes, but according to the review at tomshardware it also crashed the most. IM sticking with the asus, 165fsb with an adjusted multiplier is plenty when it comes to overclocking . going to over 200mghz fsb is just asking for trouble with your PCI and AGP frequencies. |

| asus seems to be ahead of the game with a7v333 especialy with the anti burn protection. that way if you do mess up your not going to fry your cpu |

  how about the shuttle ak35gt2 w/ ddr333 support (via kt333)? fsb can be tweaked to 225mhz and cpu voltage can be raised to 2.3volts- get it w/ raid and the highpoint controller can do 0, 1, and 0+1 config's- but how fast can it really go, i don't know- anybody?!?!?:

The CPU I was using only allowed me to change the voltage to that amount and still BOOT.
As I have stated time and time again that every setup and system is different and will yield different results.
The voltage is not unlimited either on the board I used it stopped 1.85.
I feel the ABIT KX7-333 offers better options overall for the overclocker and is a beter board for that job.
I am sure better results can be obtained with a different CPU as the one I have is not very OC friendly.

well thats good enough for me. so when i get my asus board back i will overclock it and see how far it goes with me. |
