Oh I have experience removing BIOS chips the problem arises on reinstallation. I typically I dont have much of a problem (other then trying not to crush the pins). I just have never done this on a "live" board (meaning plugged in/turned on) and in the case. fortunately I have a few systems I can pratice on

Just make sure you DON'T put it back the wrong way around.

It becomes VERY hot then. Been there, done that

Since that was an extra chip from an already otherwise dead board, nothing much was lost...

Good luck and have fun...

Toby, you would be better served if you took the mobo OUT of the case and had it on a flat non-metallic surface. It will be much easier to deal with that way. 8)
