FreeRAM XP Pro is a freeware application designed to defragment and free up your system's RAM (Random Access Memory). As a result, system performance, response time, and stability increase. FreeRAM XP Pro uses a minimal amount of memory, system resources, and CPU time, thus making it fast and efficient. It also uses a very fast memory allocation algorithm, allowing it to work quickly with less intrusion on your productivity.

This also useful if your memory is 256MB or below

EasyCleaner is a small program which searches Windows' registry for entries that are pointing nowhere. EasyCleaner also lets you delete all kinds of unnecessary files like temps, backups etc. You can search for duplicate files and you can view some intresting info about your disk space usage! You are also able to manage startup programs, invalid shortcuts and add/remove software list.

EBCD is a bootable CD, intended for system recovery in the case of software or hardware faults. It is able to create backup copies of normally working system and restore system to saved state. It contains the best system software ever created, properly compiled and configured for the maximum efficient use.

You may download image builder utility which creates image of bootable CD-ROM (.ISO file), plus basic set of system tools. When the image is ready, write it to CD-R or CD-RW, and then everytime you'll need convenient and powerful system tools they'll be just at hand.

It is easy to customize the disk for your needs. You can include to CD any program you like, or remake the structure of CD completely. All you need is to change a few lines in configuration XML files.

Remove this if not deemed necessary, but it is important at the moment....

For users running winXP who end up with the Sasser worm do this:

When the shutdown box appears go to START, then RUN and type in shutdown -a This prevents the worm executing... Then go to here... ... laylang=en

This is the XP prevention pack...

Then here to remove the virus from your system - disable system restore first, then run it in SAFE MODE.... ... .tool.html

I know this can be like shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted, but using the stopped command does prevent the virus from executing and gives you time to patch and remove...

I always run Knoppix on a fresh build once completed.

I find it is the most hassle-free way of ensuring ALL components are working together. It is also very useful for when an HDD dies on you and you need to try to rescue files from it.

Knoppix and the aforementioned memtest are my most used tools when building systems.
