Book PC

Postby lighterlung » Wed May 22, 2002 5:13 am

Hi All;
I recently bought a BTC Book PC, and there was no manual. It came without a CPU, Ram, or HDD. The reseller's site gave me enough info to know my spare 733 P3 CPU would work, and it's a Sis 630 chipset, and the board supports 1024mb of SDRam.
I've tried installing Win98SE, ME, and finally XP Pro. On 98, somehow it'd bypass the serial# entry, on ME, I could enter the Serial, but on both OSs, I kept getting a "windows protection error", and the system would halt.
Last, but not least, XP will get about half way through installing then just stop.
There are 3 jumpers on the board, the reseller termed the board a flex micro ATX style. There's no ISA or PCI slots (I knew there was no room for expansion).
I'd sure like to find out who made this board, and what the jumper functions are. I've tried searches for a company called BTC without any luck.
Can't find it on the Sis site either.
Thanks to anyone who might have any info at all for me.

I would expect that these two boards would be very similar.

Wow,
This is great. I went through the manual, however, there doesn't seem to be any solution as to why I keep getting "windows protection errors".
