Most likely it is the same board. Just a possibly modified BIOS and other changes. _________________ We Help You. You Can Help Us!

Gigabyte:
| Quote: | 7DX.BIN : 11/28/2002-7DX-6A6S6G09C-00
256K ACPI GA-7DX F8b |
Micron:

256K ACPI GA-7DX REV. F2c MC |
If the bios chip is soldered to the board this is not a safe bet. _________________ We hate rut, but we fear change.

Did the BIOS update work?
Here's my objective:
Config:
MicronPC Millennia MAX XP
AMD Athlon 1.0Ghz
GA-7DX Rev 2.2
BIOS F1ia
After looking at Gigabytes CPU Compatibility list for this motherboard, I purchased a AthlonXP 2600 2.13ghz 266 (AXDA2600DKV3C) cpu.
Later I found out that the Milliennia manual was incorrect. It described jumper JP51 to set the FSB from 200 to 266, but when I looked directly at the mobo, it only shows the description 'JP51' and no pins/jumper. Also no SW1. So, the mobo can only run at 200FSB and technically will only accept 200FSB processors.
(search criteria: milennia mellenia mellennia)
(BTW, what I found out: The GA-7DX by Gigabyte are not all the same (duh!) They have different Revs, bios, and guess what!...different specs made for ...you guessed it...specially made for Micron! REV 2.2 in my Micron system is different than REV 2.2 elsewhere!!) ok, off my soap box.
Well, you may not get this, but what happens if I do insert the AthlonXP 2600 266FSB cpu in my system? Will it automatically default to 200FSB because of the mobo?
Should I upgrade the F1ia bios first to F8 (identified on Giga-bytes website to address AthlonXP 2600 but only with Rev3.0 boards and above) ?
Thanks! |
