Why not uninstall IE 6 and go back to 5.5SP2? :?

Instead of choosing repair, choose remove

Connely,
Did you try reinstalling IE 6? When you try and remove it from the add/remove programs, is the option to "restore the previous windows configuration" show up? If so, choose that option. It will take you back to before your IE 6 attempt.

If that doesn't work, try getting a ISP CD. Most of them have an IE installation on them and try loading over your current installation.

Also, you say that you have tried wiping everything from your HD... this of course should take you to a fresh start... Did you format C?

IE 6.0 has added the following improvements from previous versions...
"Web privacy, fault collection, media bar customization, image toolbar, auto image resize, and specific standards supports that are both relevant for corporations and developers."
