Rules for the Motherboard Identification Forum: (Updated)

Postby Tolemac » Tue May 14, 2002 12:14 pm

Be sure to read the General Posting Rules.

1. STAY ON TOPIC! Only posts regarding the ID of motherboards and finding manuals will be allowed here! All other posts will simply be deleted.

2. If it is at all possible, post the BIOS ID string number. It is the number that appears at the bottom of the very first boot screen when you first turn your system on. It will look like one of these two examples:

Award/Phoenix BIOS: 2A59CG0HC-00 or i430TX-SMC67X-ATC-5030C-00

AMI BIOS: 51-0102-1101-00111111-101094-AMIS123-P

You will need to hit the "Pause/Break" button on the keyboard the moment you see this screen so that you can write the number down. If it is too fast for you, then download the BIOS Wizard and it will be able to give you the ID.

3. If the motherboard is not working, then please list all facts about the board and any numbers/letters found on the board. Example: "It has 4 PCI slots and 2 ISA slots. It has 4 EDO memory slots and it's a socket 7 board with SiS 530 written on one of the chips." This will help us to help you ID the board as fast as possible.

4. Please check your spelling! We have a preview area for the posts, and I encourage everyone to use it. It just makes it easier to answer the questions if we can actually read them.

If you post a request for assistance here (on the forum), and have also opened a mobocop case for the assistance please post the mobocop case number OR provide us with a link to the mobocop case. This will be a big help to evasive and myself when working on the mobocop cases. Too many cases are going unsolved in the mobocop database that have been taken care of in the forum...

Thanks

Ammendment 2

Postby Toby B. » Fri Oct 31, 2003 7:20 am

Due to the lack of ownership verification of computers, and laptops we are no longer offering any form of support for lost/forgotten passwords. This goes for BIOS, Windows log in, etc.

ANY posts asking for help with removal or cracks to passwords will be deleted immediately.

Any questions on this new rule please feel free to PM or email me or one of the other moderators.

thanks for your cooperation.

Update - This does not apply to Forum log in trouble. These issus need to be addressed to MoboCop.

When adding requested information to your posts. Please do not edit the original post. It causes confusion and delays accurate responses. Please just add a reply to the existing thead/post.
