I'm just learning how to build computers....I want to build a monster for myself real soon...what would some of the experts use as far as ...
mobo?
cpu?( dual or ?)
video,sound?
drives?(what)
whatever else U thought of.....

I'm not a gamer(still play super mario 64)...more for home movies, digital photography, simple animations....

Now i'm gonna try something simpler 1st but want to get the parts ready....

Well you don't need a Monstor for that.

A Duron 1 Ghz system with 256MB of RAM would work just fine for your needs.

Keep the ball rolling........

Postby Petey970Z » Sat May 18, 2002 1:48 am

I'm building one right now for Home Use:

AsusTek M/B A7V266-E

128MBS of DDR Ram

Thermaltake Volcano 7 HSF with a Duron 1.2 Ghz

Western Digital Hard Drive 30 Gig's

CD-ROM and DVD

The case and power supply I picked up at an auction locally. 400 watt / 5 bays.

Just make your list out and start finding what you want, in this case I was in no hurry. BTW Nothing on my list came to over 100 dollars. 8) 8)

I'd ditch the WD hard drive there if i was you but thats becouse i heard a lot of bad problems with the WD drives you'd be better of with a Maxtor or IBM drive ;)

ok bact to the origanal post :)

mobo = upto you but do your homework first ok Abit, Gigabyte, SOYO are all good brands to look into

CPU = depends on if Intel or AMD if AMd then the Athlon tbird might the option if the XP is out of your price range as i heard on the grape vine that the Tbird is going to replace the Duron

vid = Nvida GeForce chip set based or a ATI Raidon card are good and well worth the money (mine Creative Labs Geforce 4 mx440 )

sound = personaly i like my Sound Blaster 1024 live player card but the new audity range sound good

drivers ? in what way do you mean drivers ?

Nvidia chipset vid card well maby the Detonator drivers from Nvidia
there not for any spacific card but the chip set

what else??

case - atx stile, easy to use is a must and of a good size no point getting a case you can't use all the bays in becaouse the mobo gets in the way ;)

DVD-rom still plays CD-roms
CD-RW if you need one but not nesersary
FDD

oh if you go AMD then DDR ram and a mobo capable of handleing it is a good idea
The whole world is a game and we are but players within it

but what a game :D
