Folding@Home 3.25 beta
May 7, 2003
----------------------------------------------------------------------
THIS BETA WILL NOT EXPIRE.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
RECENT CHANGES (Client) - from 3.24 Release:
3.25 beta (unmarked)
--------------------
- If -forceasm is used, then on every execution of the core until the
client is restarted, SSE optimizations will be used if possible (if
the chip is an AMD chip, then be default, without the flag, it would
not be chosen over 3DNow). Prior to this client, this effect would have
held true only for the first work unit run after starting the client. |
where does it say tinker?

| Alright. I misunderstood. However, tinker work units DID recieve a nice performance boost, as did grommacks ones. |

| Unfortunately it doesn't, but it does boost the performance. |

Brutal, that disappearing thing never happened to me before.... until I shutdown last night. I had a 70 pointer at 88% and it just was gone this morning when I turned the computer back on....
Im gonna start backing up my work folder before I shut down at night. I wonder why it does that? Thats the first time its done it to me since I started folding. _________________ Click here to Help humanity! Please join the Motherboards.org Folding Team (33258) |

| Yeah, i had the same thing happen when windows crashed at 75/2500 earlier.... i think folding caused the crash (cpu choked due to lack fo cycles), so that's why. |

| the client backs up itself at specific frame/step incriments, i'm thinkin maybe if you shut down your computer just when it is backing up maybe it forgets where it left off? just a hypothesis |

it's called check pointing (saving to disk). i think tinker WU will save to disk w/ each frame, and gromacs will save at each % completion increment. a gah WU will do 30 steps (from what i've seen), and check pointing only occurs at 100% completion of each step. not sure about check pointing between intervals. i know i've seen this topic at the FAH forum- more than likely a feature request. check pointing, gromac check pointing tinker check pointing- try those searches at the FAH forum:
