Is your chip unlocked? Becuase a multiplier of 18 on a C grade chip would be a 2.6C not a 2.4C. I've got a northwood 2A./

ive read that some ppl w/2.0A were able to go beyond 3ghz but thats with the C1 stepping and different mb. my 1.8A did 3ghz on my BD-7 and Albatron board but would crap out anything higher than 169 fsb. :\ so im pretty sure it reached its limit.

Ok I tinkered with mine some more... both of them! As the siggy says, 2.2GHz and 440MHz FSB. I'll try pushing the FSB up more, but I can't get this CPU beyond 2.2GHz stable. I also got my 2nd comp using an XP2600 to 10.5 x 200 with the Asus board, and it's stable. The Asus is using OCZ's wonderful PC2700 memory overclocked at a 6,3,3,2 timings.

Okay, finally got it stable. Here's the rundown:-

MOBO: Gigabyte GA-7VAXP

CPU: Athlon XP2000+ Thoroughbred

Ram: 1GB 266DDR ram (non-specific OEM) (the cheapest I could get)

Cooling: Thermaltake Volcano 7 (max 56degrees under load)

BIOS Settings: 156MHz FSB/11.5x multiplier/CAS 2.5, everything else on normal settings.

This may not be my fastest but this is the most stable o/c I've done to date, and it's my current config. I don't think I've done too bad what with the reputation of this KT400 board.
