Asus A7v133 Question on POST

Postby Rogue » Tue May 14, 2002 9:05 pm

I upgraded my mobo with an ASUS A7V133, using Windows XP Home. The question I have is Win XP is supposed to boot faster than Win ME. After installation and loading of Win XP, during boot up, I get a black screen that displays the memory count, then a couple of other screens (promise, etc) and then a rotating slash indicating detection. It take over two to three minutes to boot up. Is there a way to get rid of that and just show the Windows XP start up screen like Win ME? I thought there was something to turn on or off in BIOS. Simple yes or no? Thanks! :?

Yes go into the BIOS and disable the onboard ATA controller

Thanks Hardware Junkie!

Disabling the On-board ATA Bios did the trick! Thank you. That took care of the rotating slash - "detecting". Is there another mode in BIOS to kill the first memory count screen and subsequent screens? :D
