Once And For All...WHAT IS THE BEST O/S?
Moderator: The Mod Squad
my two cents here is win 98se ibm,i had it on my thinkpad, never failed once!i payed with them all from the dos promt days to win xp pro.worst win me and win xp upgrade!bad dog, bad!$%^[email protected]# everwhere.i know run a full copy of win xp pro and its very good, but it is not without bugs, holes, patches and all that jazz!and what worse the is no os/2 or anything else out there, linix, red hat! dont be silly, homey dont play that!so as far as i am concerned ITS ALL NUMBER ONE {POOP}and the worst thing is we pay good money to watch bill gates eyes light up!

I have to go with XP Pro. I've used every Microsoft OS released to the consumer market, my favourite for years was Win98SE I switched to all the new OSs but always switched back to 98SE. It took a lot of courage for me to finally decide to switch to XP Pro especially after seeing WinME. But I couldn't be happier, and I would never go back to 98SE. XP Pro offers everything that its predecesors offered and much more. I have to say that aside from the annoying updates for updates, it's a mighty fine OS. Hey it's Microsoft, you can't expect perfection.

XP Pro gets my vote. Stable, clear type interface, excellent driver support, easy networking configuration, to name a few.

I'd have to say Windows XP, too. It is so stable; far better than Me was. It actually runs faster on my 1.2GHz Athlon box than did Win98, but it runs terribly slowly on my 366MHz Celeron. Both have 512MB of RAM.
