Oily PC?

Postby ½mv² » Wed Apr 26, 2006 9:35 am

A friend asked me out-of-the-blue if I had some spare computer parts. When I asked why he told me that he heard that a computer can run completely submerged in oil, as long it's 32 degrees or cooler.

Personally, I think he's about to ruin one of my extra motherboards.

Has anyone else heard of this? If so, is it degrees Celcius or Ferienheit(SP)? Does it matter what kind of oil you use? What precautions should I take before attempting this (aside from having a fire extinguisher ready)?

it might work for awhile but depending on the oil it will evenually destroy the board or the oil. some of the components are not oil resistant.
