Noisey Video Card Fan Keeping Me Up At Night

Postby dpnaugle » Sat Oct 22, 2005 7:19 am

My ATI AIW 9600 XT fan is so bleeping loud I can not stand it. I dont have the clearance for heat pipes and I am wondering if this little card really needs a FAN or of i can get away with a slight mod.

Do you think a NB heat sink would provide adequate cooling?

I need ideas the noise is driving me insane..

you could try the nb cooler, but to help in cooling I would recommend that you install at least 1, if not 2, 120mm case fans in there to help with the cooling. you've got to remember that your cooling is also cooling off the ramsinks.
good luck with the noise

Hmm, no room for heatpipes, but can you squeeze an arctic cooling silencer in there? Oh, and coincidentally, yes it should be possibel to do it with passive cooling, i did it to my gigabyte 9600XT when it was in my shuttle (got bloody hot but that's another matter)
