I get how to overclock and I know some about what things I need to do to do it, but I have a 2700+ 2.17 GHz, is clockin it to 2.4 a stupid idea or is that a perfect bump up 4 that proc? I have koolance water cooling, gpu in the loop to 6800.... temps cpu is reporting now aren't probably accurate as its first in the loop but still heat from the gpu last in the loop adds a little, but anyway 79 or 80 degrees ambient 38 39 C, 77 ambient 34 35 C

I don't know if your chip would take the voltage, cooling would be ok until 2.3 Ghz I should think at least. Best way is to take it step by step and find out

If you see smoke and flames, then its a good idea to stop.

Good luck.

Buy a faster cpu, its cheaper than aircon to bring the ambient down! :)
