Is there any good alternative to the cans of C02 that can be used for clearing dust and hair out of electronics. I remember hearing something about vacuums causing too much static charge on components.

Vaccums cause static, compressed air uses a liquid propellant that can (and often does) spray a fine mist on your electronics. Personally, I just use a lint-free cloth and an artist paintbrush of the right size (I have several) dipped briefly in denatured alchohol then swabbed out with a clean dry brush.

Otherwise, yeah, $50 air compressor from WallyWorld.

You can get non static vacuums, but they are quite expensive.
I have a 2HP compressor, but it is too much hassle for me to use that on PC's - I just carefully use a normal vacuum and bear the risk.
