Backlighting a digital LCD Thermomoeter.

Hey all, I'm sort of leaning towards getting a Lian-Li T4B Digital Temperature Sensor if I can find one in celcius. My question is this, is there anyway to mod it to be backlight and to run off my PSU (I doubt the button cell batterys could power it backlight as well). Thanks!

If you know how to use LED; and expose the edge of the glass on your LCD, you got it made. Some people like the blue background with expensive blue LEDs. Yellow LED is nice too. Green is very bright. Red is very common LED, but maybe not bright enough.

LEDs are best limiting the current to 10 ma using 5vDC with a resistor.

Thanks atang1. So you're saying that I need to expose the LCD glass and shine a LED through it? If that's right, how would I power the LED? Would I need another board or could I solder the LED's onto the LCD's board? And how would I power it all from my PSU? Or do LED's take up little enought power that I wouldn't need to.

I think you'd have a hard time finding a 5 or 12 volt LED....you'll have to play around with resistors to get it around 2-3 volts max.
