just curious, if my mobo is able to take PC2700 ram but I installed a pc3200
is it backwards compatible? if so, would there be any Problems?

Yes it is backwards compatible. It should not cause any problems unless the ram is not compatible with your motherboard. Some boards do not like certain brands of ram. Check with your motherboard manufacturer to see if it is compatible.
