HDMI, video is there, but no sound

Postby Alex_iv » Wed Nov 19, 2008 12:47 pm

I have just installed my new XFX GeForce 8200 and hooked it up to the regular monitor via VGA and to HD Panasonic Plasma TV via HDMI.
I've got a picture on TV, but no sound. HDMI is supposed to channel audio through, isn't it? But it doesn't. What I didn't do right?

Thank you

Welcome to Motherboards.org!
Your query may find better results in the "General" sector. A Mod may see fit to move your post, but please don't double-post.

Likely there is something you missed in the setup. Read the user's manuals again. With most newer HDMI setups, yes.. sound and audio travel the same cable. However, some TV sets don't have the combo feature for sound and video on the same cable. You may need to add a separate audio cable. The owner's manual for the TV or monitor will detail this.
May also only be a part of the on-screen user menu that needs to be set properly (input choices).
