AMD x2 3800 (socket AM2)

Postby mollick2 » Tue Apr 24, 2007 3:39 pm

i recently started experimenting with my ocing my proc, i currently have it running at 2.2ghz but notice it maxing out at 58 under load. i have an after-market zalman hs/f combo installed,

that one to be exact.

is this normal? ive heard socket 939 x2 3800's being oced to 2.5ghz with stock cooling at these temps, is it AM2 or possibly bad thermal paste application?

I would start by applying some artic silver 5 thermal paste as it can lower the temp by a few degrees if used correctly. Your temps shouldn't be that hih under load with such a small oc... whats the vcor youre running?
My current rig is an amd 4600 x2 i'm running a thermaltake volcano vx with artic silver 5 and my full oc is running the cpu @ 2.90ghz with a vcore of 1.56 and I never see temps above 55c
