Kentsfield (Intel Quadcore) clocks to 4.75Ghz

Postby Sabrewings » Thu Aug 17, 2006 9:38 pm

A Kentsfield (think Conroe E6700 just four cores) was clocked to 4.75ghz.

Yes, it was accomplished with non-standard cooling. But, this is just a pre-production sample. Intel's latest offerings are going to take themarket by storm. 8O

Perhaps now someone can come to this forum about advice on an Intel system without having AMD shoved down their throats.

Well, your probably right, but for the past what.. 2 years? AMD was winning the price and performance wars with Intel. Why would someone not recommend a clear and obvious winner there?

I think theres a difference between asking for advice, recommendations, and help. If someone needed help with an intel setup, there were lots of people here that would be more then happy to help out.

If someone just wanted a recommendation for a $xxx.xx system, you couldnt go wrong with an AMD solution either.

Now the tables have turned, granted.. but I still think AMD has the price wars won for the time being. Not necessarily clock for clock, CPU vs CPU pricing, but theres alot more options for AMD right now then there are for Intel as far as chipsets. It wont be long though.
