AMD 3800x2 in a Shuttle (newbie, please help!)

Postby Ben » Wed May 03, 2006 5:04 am

Hi I've got a 3800x2 in a shuttle case with very good cooling. Idle temps are around 30 celcius for CPU.

I followed Peanya's Guide for the beginning part.

I have changed the CPU multiplier to 8, set the memory index to 166 from 200 (i guess this means 333 from 400).

LT bus changed from 5 to 4 and base frequency from 200 to 250.

That's the set-up I guess, now I need to OC! My memory is Corsair XMS3200 C2, is this good enough?

What do I do next? I'm a newbie so I don't wanna go testing things and ruin my new system.

Thanks!

That memory should work... not for a super-duper overclock, but it shouldn't give you any problems. I would start by overclocking your processor in 5% intervals so long as it remains stable. But, I'll let somebody else explain further who is better at explaining!
