Hello I am a newb. I am building my first system and am wondering if I should over clock. I am not like stupid or anything and understand what it is but I need help. I am looking to get a 1.8 AMD Athlon 2000 processor, and a gygabyte hard drive. I am only starting out with 512 of ram but will upgrade in time. Well is there any advice.

This forum doesn't get much attention, so I'll try to address it the best I can.

Overclocking or not depends on a couple of things... first of all, is your system capable of oc'ing in the first place. If yes, the second question is how hot does it run normally. If it runs hot under normal conditions, OC'ing isn't for you unless you do something to make sure the processor/mobo/memory all stay cool. Mainly the processor. And finally, if you can overclock and keep it cool, I wouldn't go over 10% MAX because it is an older processor. Just try 5% and if that runs fine, go to 10% but no more. :)
