Overclocking Athlon XP 2100+ on Soltek

Postby ajkeence » Sat May 18, 2002 7:18 pm

I'm working on my first overclock for a system. Here are my system specs to start off.

Soltek SL-75DRV5
Athlon XP 2100+
512 MB Samsung PC 2700 DDR
Maxtor ATA 133 80 GB
Asus Geforce 3 TI 200
Sound Blaster Live 5.1
Colorcase w/400W PSU
Thermaltake Volcano 7+

I have played with it a little bit and now have it running as a 2200+. I obviously would like a larger increase than that or I would not be speaking with you all :) Here are my main questions: In the bios I can change the core voltage settings. Right now it is set at default but I dont actually see what the default is and am not familiar with what I should do to figure out what I should set it at or if I really even need to change it. My FSB is set at 140 right now which gave me the 2200+, any assistance that would help me achieve even higher speeds would be greatly appreciated :)

Hey, how do you like that mobo? I'm considering it to put in my system. How's the performance and stability?

For CPU speed, you are going to have to unlock the processor. also, try increasing the voltage as you go up, it should help in system stability. be warned that computer temps will also go up, so watch the temperatures..

All I really need is someone to point me to a How To on unlocking the Athlon XP for overclocking and maybe a tutorial on how to actually overclock. Mainly how to know when to raise the core voltage and such :)
